JJ Adams

Contemporary Pop Artist

Jason John Adams (born 1978, Plymouth) is one of the UK's most talked-about and collectible contemporary pop artists. Raised partly in Cape Town, South Africa, JJ was influenced early by the work of Storm Thorgerson, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Sir Peter Blake, later honing his craft in graphic design at Cape College while apprenticing at a busy tattoo studio. On returning to the UK he studied commercial printing at Plymouth College of Art & Design, laying the technical foundations for his signature style.

Working from his studio in West Sussex, JJ blends bold acrylic sprays, stencils and digital layers to craft a visual lexicon that celebrates pop culture, rebellion and urban grit. His instantly recognisable portraits of icons — from David Bowie to Marilyn Monroe — crackle with energy and colour, earning him features in Vogue and GQ, and commissions from Rolls Royce and Bang & Olufsen.

A finalist for the Fine Art Trade Guild's Best Selling Published Artist in 2016 and shortlisted for Artist of the Year in 2017, JJ Adams has also raised over £20,000 for UK charities including the NHS and teen cancer causes. His work is held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
