Nick Holdsworth
Contemporary British Pop Artist
Nick Holdsworth is a contemporary British artist celebrated for his pop art portraits, mosaic pixel artworks and graphic-inspired paintings. His unique creative voice was shaped long before he picked up a brush — in 1988 he co-founded the cult fashion label Purple Om / Random, a psychedelic T-shirt brand sold in Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Liberties, Collette in Paris and Barneys Tokyo, one of the first to capitalise on the 1990s' obsession with youth culture graphics.
Holdsworth combines digital manipulation, creative graphics and hand-painting to produce powerful mixed-media artworks centred around iconic brand logos, architectural details and portrait subjects. His detailed mosaic and architectural pieces can take 40–60 hours to complete, followed by a week of sealing and varnishing — a testament to the precision and dedication behind each work.
His portraits of Freddie Mercury are held in the private collections of the musician's sister and guitarist Brian May. Today, Nick Holdsworth's work is collected internationally and represented by prestigious galleries across the UK and beyond.
