Uncle Stubble
Contemporary Urban & Street Artist
Uncle Stubble (Tim) grew up immersed in the early 1980s wave of hip hop culture that swept the UK — B-boying, DJing, MCing and graffiti were all part of his world from childhood. He was an active figure in the late 80s and early 90s urban art scene until, at age 16, the consequences of street art led him to step back and redirect his creative energy. He left school and became a sign-maker, spending years putting up large-scale lettering across the country while channelling music through funk bands, DJing and releasing white-label records.
It was on his wife's suggestion that he returned to painting — and the results have been extraordinary. Uncle Stubble creates bold, energetic artworks rooted in the street art tradition, accompanied by spray cans and QR codes that link directly to music videos, interviews and footage of his creative process, turning each piece into a multi-sensory experience. His work carries the raw authenticity of someone who lived the culture before representing it.
He has worked with charities and urban redevelopment projects across the UK, creating large-scale murals in schools and inspiring young people through art. His canvases are exhibited in galleries nationwide and have found an enthusiastic audience among collectors who respond to the energy, colour and cultural depth that only a true original can bring.
