Barry Hilton
Landscape & Skyscape Painter
Born in Manchester in 1941, Barry Hilton holds a first class degree in ceramics and moved from his native city to Cornwall in 1979, where he worked alongside a thriving community of artists. He is best known for his atmospheric skies, painting mainly in oils and building up layers of finely applied colour to create dramatic, emotive skyscapes contrasted with bold palette-knife work in the foreground.
Over a career spanning more than forty years, Hilton has painted a wide range of subjects — from Victorian street scenes and galleons to the moorland, rivers and harbours of his native north of England, his greatest source of inspiration. His celebrated landscapes express atmosphere through bold blocks of colour and dramatic textural contrasts, enthralling generations of collectors. Generation Gallery is proud to offer his work to UK collectors.
