Based in the glorious County of North Yorkshire, Brenda, born in South Africa, is a UK based mixed media artist who is adventurous and experimental in her process having a different approach to each piece of art she creates. Being a professional artist for the last 26 years and having completed many successful commissions from both corporate and domestic clientele, she enjoys working with a range of different art mediums, including resins, oils, acrylics and timber. She is passionate about making all of the different materials she uses in her work fuse together in harmony. Whilst also aiming to embody the essence of each of her chosen narratives. Many of her selected themes are drawn from classic fairytales inspired by some of the most beloved and eccentric characters developed in the early 1950s or after. For example, she has creates work featuring Alice, the mad hatter and Dodo from the widely celebrated story of Alice in Wonderland. A story where we meet an array of anthropomorphic creatures who defy logic and reason. Brenda's level of creativity is driven by her limitless imagination and inspired by a generation of influential artists who came before her, but also admits that she is continuously inspired by her surroundings such as her immediate landscapes, seascapes, reflections in nature. This allows her to be present and really pay attention to all things beautiful both within and around her.
